Swathi lost out to Anjali
What do Swathi and Anjali have in common? In Tollywood dominated primarily be North Indian imports, they are Telugu girls who have managed to carve a niche for themselves.
While Swathi has hits, Ashta Chamma and Swami Ra Ra to her credit, Anjali has Journey, Balupu, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and the latest smash success Geethanjali in her kitty.
Geethanjali was a remarkable success for it was a small film without any star cast and Anjali was the sole 'unique selling proposition' (USP) of the movie.
However, if industry sources are to be believed then it was Swathi who was originally approached for the lead role in Geethanjali. However, Swathi was busy with Malayalam and Tamil projects and couldn't accommodate the required dates.
The producers then approached Anjali who was available and the rest as they say is history. Geethanjali turned out to be a blockbuster and put Anjali back in the reckoning again as one of the top heroines in the industry. As they say, one person's loss is another person's gain!
