Recap: Shiva completes 25 years Nagarjuna starrer Shiva has become a landmark in the history of Telugu cinema. The film, which is still remembered as a real time epic, has changed the lives of many stalwarts like director Ram Gopal Varma, actors Nagarjuna, Amala, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Raghuvaran, Tanikella Bharani and JD Chakravarthy. Needless to say, Shiva had a cult like following and had huge influence on youth during its time of release and created an era before and after it.
It is no wonder that every film-maker of these times still look up to Shiva to master the nuances of film-making. The RGV directorial which was released on October 5, 1989, has completed 25 years and to mark the occasion the makers of the film have released a first of its kind documentary in the history of Tollywood.
Nagarjuna said, 'Shiva is not just a film but a life changer for every one of us. Even though I have made a few mistakes in my career, I always feel blissful when I think of Shiva as the film left a long-lasting influence in my heart.' That's not all; Nagarjuna is also gearing up to release the film again in digital format shortly.
'We have digitally restored and re-mastered Shiva and the new version will hit the screens in 75-100 theaters in November. We have enhanced the colour and sound quality to comply the latest standards,' says Nagarjuna with a beaming smile.
This is the right time for all those young movie freaks who missed the chance to watch the movie when it was first released in 1989 in 70mm and stereophonic sound.
