Farmer relief package adequate: Rosaiah
Guntur, Jan 2 (INN): Former chief minister Rosaiah on Sunday said that package allotted to rain-hit farmers by the state government is adequate, even while maintaining that the losses suffered by the farmers due to successive natural calamities can never be mitigated.
Talking to media persons, Mr Rosaiah said that not only the Congress, but all political parties must come forward and help farmers in these times of hardships. Mr Rosaiah stated that the state government has and will remain a 'farmers' friend' and is doing everything in its power to alleviate the suffering of the rain-hit ryots.
Responding to a question, the former chief minister said that he does not see any chance of the state going in for midterm polls. Mr Rosaiah said that the government is stable and added that he did not foresee any problem in future.
The former chief minister also criticised the speculation about the Justice Srikrishna Committee, saying that the Panel has already taken the views of people in the state and submitted its report to the Union Government. He said that any comment, for or against the Panel by any political leader will not have any bearing on the Report.
The senior politician also advised people to observe restrain and not resort to provoke passions and maintain peace in the aftermath of the Report being made public.
When asked to comment on the attack launched by the opposition over the alleged ineffective defense of the state's interests before the Krishna Waters Dispute Tribunal, Mr Rosaiah said that the government had made its best possible case and put forth all the arguments at its disposal. The former chief minister also said that he had not tried to stall proceedings in the Ameerpet land scam.
