Pratyusha crowned with International Title


Hyderabad, May 12th, 2015: The rising star on the Chess horizon, eighteen year old Pratyusha Bodda, (Fide I.D. No. 5000629) has accomplished the prestigious Women International Master (WIM) Title with a Fide Elo Rating Points of 2128.



Pratyusha got the W.I.M. 1st norm in 2011 at Bhubaneswar; W.I.M. 2nd norm again in 2011 at Chennai and the W.I.M. 3rd norm in 2012 in Bhubaneswar. She is only the 4th Women International Master from the Telugu states after Koneru Humpy, Harika Dronavalli and Lakshmi Sahithi. Pratyusha was felicitated by her coach Ramaraju N. and Grand Master Harika Dronavalli on the occasion.

Pratyusha hailing from Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam district, is currently studying Intermediate. She accomplished the honor under the professional guidance of veteran Chess coach N. Ramaraju of Ramaraju Academy of chess Education (RACE).

Pratyusha has reached this milestone with single minded determination from a very young age. She won her first title at the age of seven, a Gold Medal at the Asian youth Chess Team -2004 at Singapore in the Under 8 Girls category. Since then she never looked back and kept winning laurels consistently including Gold Medal in U-7 Girls at National Chess Championship - 2004, Calicut; Gold Medal in U-9 Girls at School World Chess - 2006, Greece; Gold Medal in U-10 Girls at Common Wealth Chess - 2007, New Delhi; Gold Medal in U-10 Girls at Asian Chess - 2007, Thailand; Gold Medal in U-W Girls at Asian Youth Chess - 2007, Dubai; Gold Medal in U-12 Girls at Common Wealth Chess ' 2008, Nagpur; Gold Medal in U-14 Girls at Common Wealth Chess - 2010, New Delhi; Gold Medal in U-16 Girls at World Youth Chess Team - 2011, Brazil; Gold Medal in U-16 Girls at Asian Youth Chess Team - 2011, Philippines; Gold Medal in U-16 Girls at Common Wealth Chess - 2012, Chennai; Kanpur and Gold Medal in U-18 Girls at Asian Youth Chess - 2013, Iran.

Pratyusha has tremendous potential and should set her sight on Women Grand Master title to be accomplished in two years, says Ramaraju, who has been training her for the last seven years. According to him, Pratyusha has a great chance to grab the World Junior Girls chess Title in the immediate future. She needs to improve her opening knowledge and end game skills, to emulate Harika's success, he adds.

Speaking on the occasion Harika attributed her success and that of Pratyusha and several budding stars to the unstinted commitment of their coach Ramaraju and his academy RACE, he has played vital role in moulding us into international players, she said.

Pratyusha appealed for sponsors to aid her to sustain and accomplish more.

Coach of both Pratyusha Bodda & Harika Dronavalli, N. Ramaraju, a University level chess player, has been a Professional chess coach for the past 17 years. His Ramaraju Academy of chess Education at Kothapet, has given wings to budding and talented chess players. The Academy today boasts of envious track record with Grand Master Harika Dronavalli, Women International Master Pratyusha Bodda, Asian U-14 Silver Medalist Harsha Bharathakoti, Asian U-10 Bronze Medalist Kushagra Mohan and several promising and potential champions in the making, being his wards.
