Congress demands Pedappally district be named after Kaka Hyderabad, Oct 5 (INN): MLC and senior Congress leader Ponguleti Sudhakar on Wednesday demanded the state government to name the to-be created Peddapally district after veteran Telangana leader and former Union Minister G Venkataswamy.
Speaking to media persons after paying tributes to the veteran leader on his 87th birth anniversary here, the Congress leader said that the veteran leader had strived for the development of Telangana when he was Union Minister. Had Kaka been alive today, he would have given suggestions to develop Telangana state, Mr Sudhakar said. Naming Peddapally district after Kaka would be a great tribute to the late leader, he added.
Earlier, Sudhakar Reddy met Rajya Sabha MP Keshava Rao, who is heading the high power committee on reorganization of districts, and demanded that Kallur (in Khammam) be made a revenue district. He also demanded the government to retain Garla, Bayyaram, Venkatapuram, Vajedu mandals in Kothagudam district.
