Govt surgical strikes against farmers: Brinda Karat
Vijayawada, Oct 14 (INN): CPM politburo member Brinda Karat alleged that the TD government in AP was carrying out anti-poor and anti-farmers policies to please corporate.
Speaking to media persons, here on Friday, the CPM leader lashed out at the state government's proposal to establish Aqua Mega Food Park near Bhimavaram saying that it would affect the lives of thousands of fishermen families in over 30 villages in the region. She said that the government was using all means to suppress the people's movement against the anti-farmers policies of the government. The government has become 'Section 144 Government', it is hunting the people who are raising their voice against the anti-people policies of the state government, Karat said. She said that the TD government's anti-farmers approach would not pay any dividends to TD chief Chandrababu Naidu and warned that the party along with other stakeholders would intensify the protest against the proposed food park. She said that Chandrababu was walking in the footsteps of Modi who is carrying out surgical strikes against the farmers in various part of the country.
Karat questioned the silence of Chandrababu Naidu in the Rohit Vemula case. It is shame that Naidu and his government has not taken any step to address the deep trauma of Vemula family, the CPM leader lamented.
She accused the Modi government of politicizing border security issues to derive political mileage in UP elections. She accused the Modi government of giving license to the RSS and Hindutva forces to unleash terror against the Dalits and Muslims in the name of Gau Rakshak. She said that the NDA government was protecting criminals in the name of cow vigilantism.
On black money issue, the CPM leader said that Modi government was interested in giving amnesties to the black money holders and was giving huge incentives to the corporate. She questioned Naidu if he supported amnesty given to the black money holders by the Centre.
Karat said that the issue of triple talaq should be dealt separately and termed the government's move to link the issue of triple talaq with that of the Uniform Civil Code as disastrous. Uniformity does not equal equality, Karat asserted.
