Dattatraya seeks Rs. 175 grant for OU Hyderabad, Oct 18 (INN): Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya on Tuesday met Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javdekar seeking a grant of Rs. 175 Crores for celebration of Centenary Year of Osmania University.
"The Osmania University is entering into Centenary Year 2017-18 and it is time to acknowledge the services rendered by this university in nation building. It is also time to improve the university's infrastructure, such as buildings, laboratories, hostels, sports facilities, etc., to commemorate with the stature as one of the biggest State universities in India and to meet the ever growing needs of this university," Dattatraya said in his representation given to Prakash Javedkar.
Therefore, he said that the Centre should approve a one-time grant of Rs. 175 Crore for the Osmania University.
Dattatraya sought Rs. 25 Crore for construction of Centenary building for housing administrative offices; Rs. 15 Crore for implementation of e-Governance and Automation; Rs. 20 Crore for face lifting of the heritage buildings of Arts College, College of Sciences and Engineering College in the campus; Rs. 50 Crore in construction of four new hostels for girl and boy students in the campus; Rs. 5 Crore for modernisation of General Library; Rs. 15 Crore for establishment of University Incubation Centre; Rs. 10 Crore for upgradation of sports facilities; Rs. 15 Crore for establishment of Solar Power Generation Plant and Power Grid; Rs. 5 Crore each for Ground Water Harvesting and carpeting of internal roads and Rs. 10 Crore to revamp the entire utilities, sewage system, powerlines, drainage, water supply, etc.,
