Minister Pocharam reviews seed distribution
Hyderabad, Oct 22 (INN): Agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Saturday chaired a meeting of the agriculture department to review the distribution of seeds to the farmers in the state for the Rabi crop.
The meeting was attended by Agriculture Department Secretary Parthsarathy, Commissioner Jagan Mohan and other officials of the department and seed dealers took part in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister lashed out at the seed dealers saying that they were not distributing the seed to the farmers on time. He said that the inordinate delay in distribution of seeds would eventually affect crop yield and directed the officials to ensure speedy disbursal of seeds under their supervision. He warned that those supplying spurious seeds would dealt with strictly.
