TRS diluted Congress' pro-students schemes: Uttam Kamareddy, Oct 28 (INN): Congress on Friday alleged that the TRS government was diluting the welfare schemes launched by the previous Congress government there by derailing the development of the Telangana State.
Speaking at the party's Vidyarthi Poru Garjana in Kamareddy, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS Government not only failed to implement its numerous promises made ahead of the Assembly elections but also diluted all those schemes that were launched by the previous Congress governments.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that lakhs of students from the marginalized sections availed the benefits of fee reimbursement during Congress government. However, he said that the TRS government has not released funds under the fee reimbursement to the private colleges since two years leading to severe hardships by the students. The students are on the verge of losing their academics but the government is least bothered about the problems of the students, the TPCC chief remarked.
The Congress leader said that the TRS which rode to the power with the help of students and farmers has now ditched both of them. It was due to the relentless struggle by the students that the UPA government granted statehood for Telangana, he said. He said that the Congress party would intensify the protests against the state government until it clears the huge dues under the fee reimbursement scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Opposition leader in Legislative Council Shabbir Ali lashed out at the KCR government saying that it would face the wrath of the people of the state, especially the students for troubling them by not clear fee reimbursement dues. He said that the state government has completely ruined education sector in the state by not appointing teaching staff in varsities and keeping the fee reimbursement in pending for two years. He warned the TRS government that the same students who supported the TRS would now revolt against the government with the slogan 'KCR Hatao' if it continues to ignore the issues concerning the students.
AICC Secretary R.C. Khuntia, SC Department Chairman Koppula Raju, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, MLC Akula Lalitha and others were present.
