The members of Sikh community from Hyderabad and surrounding neighbouring Telangana districts were present in large numbers along with denizens of other communities to welcome the Yatra and its members when it reached Medchal on city outskirts.
The yatra arrived from Nagpur.Scores of Sikh devotees thronged the streets of Hyderabad to get a glimpse of Jagriti Yatra, a state-of-the-art decorated bus carrying the different weapons including sword, spear, arrow and dagger and a handwritten Guru Granth Sahib belonging to the period AD 1666 to 1708.
Jagriti Yatra is a journey of awakening and enlightening, as part of 350th birth anniversary celebrations of the guru.
It was kept for display during Vishal Deewan (mass congregation) held at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium near High Court on Tuesday for offering prayers by the devotees. It will go to Takhat Hazur Sahib (Nanded) in Maharasthra Tuesday evening before going to Rajasthan, Delhi and Punjab.
Jagriti Yatra was flagged off from Takht Harmandir Sahib, Patna, ahead of Prakash Purab to celebrate Guru Gobind Singh's 350th birth anniversary on January 5, 2017. The 'yatra' is being organised by the Prabandhak Committee of the Patna Saheb Gurdwara.
The Sikh community is going to celebrate the occasion on a very large scale and this yatra has been started to make the people aware about their guru, his sacrifices and his contribution.
Specially decorated chariot vehicle is displayed with precious hand written Guru Granth Sahibji and arms and shastras (weapons) of Guru Gobind Singh of ancient age. The yatra traversed various parts of the city. The weapons are otherwise preserved at the Patna Saheb gurdwara.
The Jagriti Yatra in the form of Nagar Kirtan (Holy Procession) is travelling across length and breadth of the country. The yatra already evoked overwhelming response from the community members along the journey.
