Bhupalpalli Jayashankar, Nov 6 (INN): Telangana TD working president A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday launched TD's Rythu Poru Yatra to protest against the anti-farmers policies of the state government. The yatra will conclude at Kodangal where a farmers meeting would be held in the last week of November.
Speaking to reporters, Revanth Reddy said that the KCR government failed to implement even a single promise made to farmers during the elections. He said that even after over two years government failed to waive off the farm loans. He said that the state government diverted the Centre's over 700 crore funds meant for input subsidy for farmers who lost crops due to heavy rains and droughts to contractors and demanded the state government to immediately pay the same to farmers.
The TD leader said that the over 2700 farmers committed suicide for debts and crop loss after state formation but the government which promised to pay compensation of Rs 6 lakh for the kin of each farmer failed to pay the same. He also demanded the state government to take stringent action against the firms selling spurious seeds and wanted the government to recover the crop loss amount from the firms under Revenue Recovery Act.
Revanth Reddy said that Chief Minister who was claiming that the farmers were happy in state did not meet even a single farmer to know their issues. He said that the CM even did not give appointment to TJAC chief Prof Kodandaram who wanted to raise farmers issues with the Chief Minister.
