Demonitisation of notes claims woman's life
Hyderabad, Nov 10 (INN): In a tragic incident following the Centre's decision to demonitise the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, a woman committed suicide after learning that the currency notes with value of Rs 56 lakh were rendered useless.
The incident took place in Shenagapuram in Mahbubabad district where a woman sold a piece of land and got Rs 56 lakh in the denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. She secured the money in her home. Her sons reprimanded her as to why she got all the notes in these denominations and also why she did not deposit the money in bank. Vinoda, 56, was shocked to learn that the government has banned Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. Dispersed over this, the woman hanged herself from the ceiling.
A case has been registered and is being investigated.
