Associations slam Uber management Hyderabad, Nov 14 (INN): The Uber management on Monday reportedly sacked its driver Satya Prasad, who lodged a police complaint after he was allegedly attacked by bouncers hired by Uber management.
It may be mentioned that two Uber drivers, Satya Prasad and Raji Reddy, were allegedly beaten up by the bouncers hired by Uber management on November 9 and they had lodged a complaint with the Madhapur Police about the same.
The Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) and Telangana State Cab Drivers and Owners Association (TSCDOA) have strongly condemned the action and said that the Uber management was trying to terrorise other drivers by sacking Satya Prasad. They said that Satya Prasad had a legal right to lodge a police complaint after he was attacked by the bouncers of Uber management. However, by removing Prasad from service, the management has conveyed a wrong message that all drivers should silently face the injustice, including physical attacks, without approaching the authorities.
Meanwhile, hundreds of drivers gathered at Uber's office at Madhapur on Monday, to discuss and resolve their issues. The drivers demanded immediate of all pending incentives, unblocking of drivers and accused the management of setting unrealistic targets for incentives. They alleged that the management was refusing incentives if any driver is falling short of even 5 paise of 10 paise of the set target. They said the drivers were forced to work for 18-20 hours a day to reach the targets and they were being denied promised incentives on one pretext or the other. The drivers also asked Uber management to stop enrolling more drivers as so far nearly 34,500 cabs are already part of this App-based Aggregator. Further enrolment would reduce the earning opportunities for already enrolled drivers.
TSCBOA President Syed Nizamuddin and TSCDOA President Shiva Vulkindakar announced that they would launch a massive protest against the decision of Uber management and the agitation would continue untill justice is done with all drivers.
