Congress leaders recall the services of Indira Hyderabad, Nov 19 (INN): TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday said that the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had made enormous contribution to the country by taking revolutionary steps in governance during her regime.
Speaking at a programme to mark the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the late leader had taken up numerous steps to reduce poverty like Garibi Hatao and empower the common man. He said that the country has made strides in the development due to historic measures by the former prime minister. He said that former prime minister' initiative to nationalize banks was a milestone in the country's economy and helped the economy in a massive way. He urged the party workers to popularize the works of the former prime minister saying that the there was a need to do so as the present NDA government was trying to demean the former Prime Ministers hailing from the Congress party. He said that it was the responsibility of the Congress party workers to carry forward the legacy of Congress leaders who strived to uplift the poor and the downtrodden.
Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other leaders also spoke.
