CPI wants Centre to sack RBI governor Tirupati, Nov 22 (INN): Terming the RBI governor Urjit Patel a sadist, CPI on Tuesday demanded the Centre to sack him immediately in the wake of severe hardships to the people with the Centre's demonetization move.
Taking part in the dharna in front of the SBI Administrative Building in Tirupati, CPI leader K Narayana said that the Centre had banned the high denomination currency notes without any alternative plan to help the people. He demanded the Centre to form a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to look into the issue of demonetization which has hit the entire country. He said that the Centre should have taken enough steps in advance before announcing the note ban. Undeclared financial emergency is prevailing in the country with every section of the society suffering due to Centre's demonetization drive, Narayana said. He demanded PM Modi to immediately resign from his office owing moral responsibility for troubling the entire country.
The police took protesting CPI workers into custody and shifted them to various local police stations and released them later.
