CPM activists stage protest infront of RBI Hyderabad, Nov 22 (INN): The CPI (M) activists on Tuesday staged a dharna in front of the regional office of Reserve Bank of India in Hyderabad to protest against the Centre's demonetization drive.
Speaking on the occasion, party leaders slammed the Centre saying that it was troubling the poor by banning the high denomination currency notes. The party leaders felt that the demonetization drive has not affected the black money holders to any extent but has hit the normal life of the common people who are facing severe hardships every day. Common people have to stand in queues for hours together in front of banks to exchange their money all this because of the Centre's illogical policy of demonetizing the currency notes. Instead of dealing with the black money stashed in foreign banks, the Centre is pushing the poor to hardship by banning the currency note, the CPM leaders felt. They demanded the government to immediately take steps ease out the hardships faced by the common people.
The CPM leaders then met RBI authorities and submitted a memorandum urging the Centre to take steps to increase the flow of new currency in banks and ATMs and lessen the hardships of the people.
