Demonetisation: CPI takes dig at Modi, KCR Warangal, Nov 27 (INN): CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the latter was misleading the nation by saying that the people were happy with the demonetization drive of the Centre.
Speaking to media persons here, Venkat Reddy said that a majority of people are facing severe inconvenience due to note ban but the Prime Minister was claiming that the people are happy with the Centre's move. He said that the Centre had waived off debts of corporate but was after the money of the poor. He said that the BJP which promised to bring black money stashed in foreign failed to do so even after half of its term in the government. He demanded the Centre to act against the corporate defaulters and recover money they owed to the banks.
The CPI leader questioned as to what transpired between PM Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and added that KCR was worried over the note ban and hence met the PM. He also said that the welfare programmes have derailed in the state due to the mismanagement of state finances by the TRS government. The CPI leader said that the state was reeling under debts and the government is finding it hard to pay for the salaries of the state employees.
Venkat Reddy demanded that the RBI should ensure that the new currency sent to the state is not routed to the corporate banks and instead be disbursed to the common people through nationalized banks. He said that the Centre gave AP Rs 4000 crore in new currency and demanded KCR also to demand the same from the Centre to the state to lessen the hardships of the common people.
