Telangana will emerge as seed bowl: Pocharam
Hyderabad, Nov 30 (INN): Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday said that the State Government would make Telangana as the seed bowl of India.
Speaking at the International Seed Certification programme held at a hotel in the city, Srinivas Reddy said the state government was making all out efforts to provide quality seeds to the farmers. He said that Indian economy is agro-based economy as there over 60 per cent farmers in the country. He said that the government would help farmers to increase their income from their farm produce by help them adopt modern techniques in farming. He said that the government's measures will help the state to emerge as the seed bowl of the country, the minister said.
The minister said that the state played a key role in agriculture sector in the country and hence this was the second time that the seed certification convention is being organised in Telangana.
