YSR Congress takes dig at KCR's stand Hyderabad, Dec 1 (INN): The YSR Congress Party on Thursday demanded the Centre to pay compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of those who died reportedly standing in the queues to exchange currency notes following demonetization.
Speaking to media persons here, YSRC Telangana unit chief G Srikanth Reddy said that the country is heading towards economic recession post demonetization drive of the Centre. Mr Reddy took pot shots at Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao saying that he was changing his stand on demontisation frequently. He said that KCR had in the beginning criticized the demonetization drive but after his Delhi visit, KCR started praising the Centre's move. Why has the CM changed his stand, he questioned. Are the people not suffering now due to cash crunch, he added.
The YSRCP chief said that labourers, farmers and workers of unorganized sectors are the worst hit due to Centre's move to ban high value currency notes. He said that the government should immediately address the shortage of currency which has hit common man hard. Poor are unable to meet their petty expenses.
Srikanth Reddy said that the CBI is now going after postal and bank officials to probe irregularities. He wondered if the government had made available even 20 per cent of the cash available of the overall demonetized currency. He slammed the BJP leaders saying that they were criticizing Opposition parties for the problem created by BJP government.
