Farmers protest e-procurement at Malakpet yard
Hyderabad, Dec 1 (INN): Chaos prevailed at the Malakpet market yard on Thursday after farmers attacked the office on the market yard premises alleging that they were being cheated by the officials through the online procurement system that was introduced recently.
Protesting chilli farmers raised slogans against the officials and damaged the furniture of the market yard office. Officials tried to calm down the farmers but in vain. With the situation going out of control officials informed the police who rushed to the spot and closed the market yard gates. Speaking to media, farmers alleged that after the introduction of online procurement they were not getting remunerative prices for their crop.
