Polavaram concrete works from 19th: AP CM Hyderabad, Dec 5 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu conducted a virtual inspection of the Polavaram project from his Secretariat in Velagapudi on Monday.
During the review meeting, the Chief Minister fixed three key milestones for the months of December and January. He said that the concrete works of Polavaram project would commence on December 19th and Union Minister Uma Bharati will be invited to lay foundation for the concrete works.
The second was to start diaphragm wall works in the 1st week of January and the third milestone was to start fabricating gates at dam site during the 2nd week January.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that during the last week 2.92 lakh cubic meters of earth work at spillway, 8.10 lakh cubic meters at spill channel and 2.34 lakh cubic meters of earth work at powerhouse foundation were carried out.
The target set for the month of December is to excavate 11.67 lakh cubic meters at spillway, 52.98 lakh cubic meters and 10.72 lakh cubic meters at spill channel and power house respectively.
The total quantity of excavation which needs to be executed up to 31st March 2017 as on today stands at 40,02,000 lakh cubic meters.
