Foundation for new OGH building soon: Minister Hyderabad, Dec 11 (INN): Health Minister Dr. K. Lakshma Reddy on Sunday informed that the foundation stone for the new building of Osmania General Hospital would be laid soon.
Addressing the valedictory function of Alumni Association Global meet of Osmania Medical College here, the minister said that the construction of OGH's new building would begin after getting the designed approved by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He said all necessary approvals have been secured and sufficient amount has been made available to construct a new building equipped with all modern equipment. He said a Medical Research Centre will also be established at a cost of Rs. 12 Crore.
The minister said that the State Government has improved the health sector after the formation of Telangana State. He accused the previous governments of continuously neglecting the sector. He said that there was an increase by 20% in the number of Out-Patients in government hospitals. He said it was made possible by improving the services and quality of treatment. He stressed on stopping unnecessary surgeries happening mostly in rural areas.
