State promoting micro irrigation: Pocharam Hyderabad, Dec 15 (INN): Minister for Agriculture Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Thursday said that the micro irrigation methods have proved beneficial to farmers in the state.
Speaking to media persons at the TRSLP office here, Pocharam said that the state government was giving incentives to the farmers to promote micro irrigation techniques as it was helpful irrigating more land area with lesser volume of water. He said that the earlier government did not do enough to promote micro irrigation methods. He said that the TRS government was giving 90 per cent subsidy to the backward classes farmers on sprinklers and other farm equipment.
The minister said that as many as 1.26 applications were received from farmers to procure sprinklers and other drip irrigation equipments. He said that the state has received Rs 1020 crore to supply subsidized farm equipment especially to promote micro irrigation in the state.
