GoM to meet all parties on T-issue next week NEW DELHI: The Sushilkumar Shinde headed Group of Ministers(GoM), which was constituted on the issue of the formation of an independent Telangana state, is likely to meet the representatives of eight political parties on November 12-13 to discuss all the issues that need resolution at the Central and state government-level for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Sources said the eight parties-- the Congress, BJP, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), YSR Congress, CPI, CPM and All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) -- will be called separately for the meeting with the high-power committee to discuss the various issues, including a special package for Seemandhra, division of assets and irrigation resources.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had on October 31 forwarded the terms of reference of the GoM to the eight parties seeking their views. 'The TRS and CPI have already submitted a response, while the BJP has asked for two more days to submit the party's response to the GoM on AP bifurcation. The Congress is likely to submit a response on Wednesday,' sources said.
The MHA received department-wise reports from the Central departments on the issues related to the bifurcation process.
The GoM had asked the Secretaries of the 10 Union Ministries, including Finance, Petroleum, HRD, Personnel, Water Resources, Power, Law, Health, Home and the Planning Commission to discuss the issues concerned and prepare a detailed report for the GoM's third meeting on Thursday.
And the babus have been asked to coordinate with the state government officials to discuss the department-wise issues and prepare a report for the meeting. 'Several ministries have submitted their reports. The remaining few are expected to do so,' a senior MHA official said.
