Azad may not attend GoM meet New Delhi: Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who played a key role in the Congress final decision on Telangana, may miss the crucial third Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting that is slated for Thursday. Azad will be away in Cape Town in South Africa to attend the BRICS Health Ministers meeting on November 6-7.
The first GoM meeting was missed by Defence Minister A K Antony and Finance Minister P Chidambaram. The second GoM meeting was missed by Antony, though Chidambaram attended it. The third GoM meeting may be missed by Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
The third GoM meeting on Thursday is considered crucial, as the Task Force Report on Law & Order set up under super cop K Vijay Kumar, will also be placed before it.
Besides, the GoM is expected to take into account the views of the various Union Ministries and the AP Government, besides the views of the different political parties and other stakeholders on the issue of carving out the separate State of Telangana.
At the first GoM meeting, the methodology to be followed was finalised. At the second GoM meeting, a decision was taken to elicit views from all concerned Union Ministries and the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary.
It is at the third GoM meeting that the important decisions are expected to be taken with regard to giving a concrete shape to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will represent India in the Third BRICS Health Ministers, which will be attended by the Health Ministers from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
