YSRCP activists block highways Hyderabad: Activists of the YSR Congress blocked highways in Seemandhra on Wednesday opposing the State's bifurcation, in response to the party's call for a 48-hour protest. Party MLAs led the demonstrations paralysing traffic.
In Chittoor district bus passengers from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were stranded when the activists stopped the vehicles. Police clamped ban orders in Nuzvid after the party men burnt tyres and argued with some bus conductors, leading to tension.
Party leader Ambati Ram babu was arrested and re leased an hour later after he staged a sit-in at Kondamodu in Guntur district. Vehicles on the Gummalakshmipuram-Parvatipuram highway in Vizianagaram district were stranded to a distance of ten km.
TDP activists pasted `Ja Samaikyandhra' stickers on all vehicles touching the Kota junction. In Kadapa distric MLA Srikanth Reddy led the protest on the highway near Rayachoti.
