RPO lays rules for correction of passport entries HYDERABAD: The Regional Passport Office, on Wednesday has informed that applicants who wish to make correction of entries in the existing passport need to first fill an online passport application with required corrections.
Applicants will have to log on to www.passportindia.gov.in, create a user ID and password, fill the the online form and submit or download e-form. In case of the second option, they need to fill up the e-form, login again and upload the form.
The applicant will have to note the 10 digit ARN number, schedule the appointment before arriving at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) as per the appointment date and time with all the relevant documents - both original and photocopies. The move came in the aftermath of an AP High Court direction to the Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad to engage in a widespread publicity campaign regarding the prescribed procedure for making applications for correction of entries in the passports, to raise awareness among general public.
RPO officials informed that applications would be processed as per rules. In case of deficiency, those applications would be kept 'on hold' at the Passport Seva Kendra with an advice to submit the required documents at PSK at the earliest.
It has also been clarified that whenever Civil Court orders are required, the RPO will issue a letter in speaking order format to the applicant. The RPO has also informed that it does not require the High Court orders for correction of passport entries.
