Sack Kiran, Telangana Congressmen demands HYDERABAD: Following chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's reiteration of his opposition to the proposed bifurcation of the state, his peers from Telangana Congress came down heavily on him and they even gunned for his scalp.
Taking strong exception to the remarks of Kiran Reddy that bifurcation of AP would lead to more expenditure and loss of revenue for both the proposed states, the T Congress leaders said Kiran Reddy's days were numbered. They demanded immediate sacking of Kiran Reddy from the top post as he was trying to ignite regional passions among people with his remarks.
Congress MPs Ponnam Prabhakar and S Rajaiah said that Kiran was turning into a despot, who expects to be obeyed by other people and does not care about their opinions or feelings.
While addressing mediapersons in Delhi after their meeting with Union minister S Jaipal Reddy there, the two MPs alleged that Kiran Reddy's remarks that Telangana would suffer more than Seemandhra and that he does not care for his post amounted to revolting against the AICC leadership.
They wondered how Kiran Reddy, being the chief minister could use government programmes like Rachchabanda for campaigning against Telangana. Hence, they requested their party leadership to immediately keep a tight rein on him.
They further said apart from going against the decision of the party high command, Kiran Reddy was even clearing files without consulting the ministers concerned.
'Is it appropriate for Kiran Reddy to send report to the GoM with his personal views without consulting his Cabinet colleagues?' they lambasted.
Ponnam Prabhakar asked the chief minister to stop worrying about the likely loss Telangana would suffer if divided as people of Telangana knew how to tackle the problems.
Former minister Mohamed Ali Shabbir asked the chief minister instead of thundering here to go to Delhi and argue his case before the Congress high command.
'There is no point in shouting from the rooftops against bifurcation of AP when the Centre is going ahead to form T-state,' he said.
