T Congress leaders oppose HMDA as common capital HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress leaders have decided to tell the Group of Ministers (GoM), when they meet the panel in Delhi, that the boundaries of the common capital region in Hyderabad be confined to the limits of its revenue division.
Apart from resolving to reject the proposal of their Seemandhra counterparts that the joint capital be extended to the limits of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), the T-Congress lawmakers decided to plead with the GoM not to give too many concessions to Seemandhra on the status of Hyderabad for the 10-year period when the city will be common capital.
Disagreeing with the proposal to keep law and order in Hyderabad with the Centre, the leaders decided to request the GoM to suggest to the Centre to set up a security board, comprising CMs and DGPs of both the states to oversee security measures in the city for the 10-year period.
A day ahead of their meeting with the GoM, the T-Congress leaders held a meeting at the residence of Union minister S Jaipal Reddy in Delhi. The meeting, which was attended by several ministers and MPs from the region, witnessed brainstorming on contentious issues such as status of Hyderabad.
