Rayala Telangana proposal still alive HYDERABAD: Strengthening the argument that Rayala Telangana is still under consideration by the Congress high command, former PCC boss D Srinivas on Thursday made some significant remarks on the issue.
'What wrong is there if leaders from Kurnool and Anantpur request the Centre to merge those two districts with the T-state? In fact, it is a good development that these leaders are now accepting state division,' Srinivas told reporters.
However, he said he believed that the Centre would deliver T-state with 10 districts as per the CWC decision. Minister TG Venkatesh, a proponent of Rayala Telangana, claimed that the Centre might include the possibility of forming Rayala Telangana in the draft T-bill and seek the views of legislators from Kurnool and Anantapur districts when the bill is referred to the Assembly.
Meanwhile, another proponent of Rayala Telangana, former minister JC Diwakar Reddy, held a meeting with some of his peers in Anantapur on the issue. Emerging from the meeting, he said they had sought an appointment with their party chief Sonia Gandhi to plead for Rayala Telangana.
