TDP Vijayawada urban wing chief replaced Vijayawada: The TDP has effected changes in its City wing keeping in view the impending elections. It made urban unit president K Nagul Meera in-charge of the Vijayawada West Assembly constituency, replacing Buddha Venkanna, who has been appointed in place of Meera.
The exchange is seen as an attempt to match the strength of the Congress and emerging YSRCP in the 2014 elections. Senior TDP leader and MP Y S Chowdary had been holding review meetings here for some time.
The changes are seen as an attempt by the top bosses to keep the party strong. In effecting the changes, the party has done 'injustice' to senior leader Venkanna, who had been keeping the organisation active in the segment since its defeat in 2004 and 2009.
He had been working all these years with an eye on getting a ticket for the 2014 elections. Stripping him of the post amounts to denial of the ticket.
The TDP had damaged his leadership in the constituency when it appointed Meera 10 months back, as both leaders represent the same Assembly segment. While Venkanna has been hoping for the best in 2014, Meera, who lost the Assembly elections in 1999, has been waiting for good days.
