Those defying party line should quit, says Botcha HYDERABAD: Apparently keeping chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in mind, PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana has said that those who want to leave the party are welcome to do so.
Speaking to the media at the Secretariat here, he said that it would be better if they leave the party now rather than stay on and cause damage by speaking in disparaging terms.
The sudden outburst of Botcha on a day when Kiran is celebrating completion of three years in office has come as a reminder that the embers of differences between them are still smouldering.
Though Botcha did not name Kiran it was obvious that he was targeting him to take the sheen out of the festive spirit.
He said that those staying in the party but were indulging in anti-party activities were doing a great disservice to the party which had given them lift in public life.
'People who have reserved space in other parties or those who are looking beyond the Congress have no place to stay in the party,' he said, adding: 'They need not wait till the T bill is introduced in Parliament. They are free to get out now.'
In the same breath, Botcha said that the CM writing to the speaker to recommend proroguing of the Assembly to the governor was a non-event.
He neither supported the argument that not proroguing the Assembly was to help the cause division of the state nor supported Kiran writing to the speaker.
'It makes no difference whether the House is prorogued or not,' he said, adding: 'The governor could convene the House any time he likes.'
The PCC chief said that when the Bill is referred to the Assembly, legislators of the three regions might express views. In other words, the legislators from Seemandhra would oppose the bill.
'As a Seemandhra representative I will oppose bifurcation of the state,' Botcha said. He said that the final decision on when to refer the bill to the Assembly would be taken at the Union cabinet meet on Nov 28.
