JC Suggests Macherla as New Capital
HYDERABAD: Former minister JC Diwakar Reddy appears to have given up his hopes on Rayala Telangana.
With the Centre dropping hints that it has decided to form the T-state, the Congress veteran, speaking to mediapersons here, wanted Kurnool to be the new capital. If this is not possible, then Diwakar Reddy wanted the capital at Macherla in Guntur district.
According to him, there is vast government land in and around Macherla town, which is on the state highway between Hyderabad and Guntur via Nagarjuna Sagar. Water would not be a problem as Sagar dam is nearby. Also, it is equi-distant from North Andhra and Rayalaseema, he said.
