CM to dedicate Pulichintala on December 8 VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will dedicate the KL Rao Sagar Project, popularly known as Pulichintala Project, to the nation after inaugurating it on December 8.
He will also lay the foundation-stone for construction of a super specialty hospital proposed to be constructed at a cost of Rs123 crore on the premises of NTR University of Health Sciences in the city on that day, according to minister for secondary education K Parthsarathy.
The inauguration of the project was originally scheduled to be held on November 30 but it was postponed as both the government as well as the state leadership of the Congress failed to inform the local party leaders about the decision.
Speaking to reporters here Saturday, Parthasarathy said the chief minister would dedicate the project to the nation by unveiling a pylon of the project in Guntur district and address a public meeting on December 8. He said all major works of the project were completed with the erection of 19 of the total 24 crest gates.
Some technical work related to the rest of the crest gates was pending, he added. Parthasarathy said water could be released from the Pulichintala project for kharif crop from next year.
He said the inauguration of the project had assumed importance in the wake of the judgment of the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on water-sharing by the riparian states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh which was delivered Friday.
Admitting that Krishna Delta would to lose due to the verdict of Tribunal, he said the government would challenge it in the Supreme Court.
