Naidu says YSR's letter causes injustice to AP Hyderabad: TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has blamed former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy for losing rights on the surplus waters of river Krishna alleging that the former had submitted a letter to the tribunal stating that the AP would not claim any right on the surplus waters.
Alleging that YSR had taken up the projects under Jalayagnam in spite of water scarcity as he was interested only in the commissions from the contractors, Naiud said on Saturday that the YSR's letter to the tribunal turned into a death certificate for the State as the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict on Krishna water sharing had deprived the State of its rights on the surplus waters.
In his tweet, the TDP president blamed the Congress government of playing fraud and said the tribunal verdict was unjust, unfair and biased. It should be rejected and condemned by all, he added.
'After the Bachawat Tribunal verdict, we argued that the State had right on surplus waters when Deve Gowda was Prime Minister,' the former chief minister explained at a press meet. 'On the basis of surplus waters construction of projects took place during the regime of NTR. But the Congress had reversed the decision and did not agree with our arguments,' he alleged.
Naidu said the Brijeh Kumar tribunal failed to understand the damage to the State if the height of Alamatti dam was increased. He blamed the State government for its failure to put the case of Alamatti before the tribunal effectively. The TDP chief said though the State's share in Tungabhadra was 132 tmcft water, the State could utilize only 102 tmcft of water.
