Infosys employee leaps to death at home
HYDERABAD: A 33-year-old Infosys employee, who was transferred from Bangalore to the company's Hyderabad campus recently, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the third floor of a four-storey building under Ghatkesar police limits early Sunday.
Police said Deepak Habib, a native of Hubli, died on the spot. The incident took place at the Singapore Township in Annojiguda. Deepak was transferred to the Hyderabad Infosys office on November 18 and he had rented a flat in the Singapore Township on November 23.
Around 5.30 a.m. Sunday, watchman of the township noticed Deepak lying in a pool of blood on the lawns and immediately informed the other residents. Soon, 108 emergency medical service rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, said Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Malkajgiri, P Radhakishan Rao.
'Primary probe revealed he slit his wrist with a nail cutter. His flat was full of blood stains. He came out from his flat and reached the elevator. Later, he jumped off the third floor,' he said.
No suicide note was found in his flat. Deepak was married but had been staying alone. He had shifted his household materials through packers and movers but some articles are yet to be delivered to his flat.
Though the exact reason for his extreme step is yet to be established, police suspect he might have been depressed due to personal issues or work pressure.
His neighbours and the watchman told the police Deepak had purchased some medicine at a medical shop recently. The police informed his parents in Hubli about his tragic death.
Based on a complaint lodged by the watchman, the police registered a case of suspicious death. The body was shifted to the Gandhi General Hospital's mortuary for postmortem.
