Exam fear takes toll on a young doctor HYDERABAD: A 31-year-old post-graduate medical student was found dead at her room in Mahendra Hills near Secunderabad. Sailaja Sharma, the medico, was a native of Bhatinda, Punjab and, according to police, took her own life due to fear of failure in her upcoming examinations.
B Sudharshan Reddy, Tukaramgate inspector, said she had injected herself with a mix of sedatives in a 200 ml saline bottle around 3.10 p.m. Saturday afternoon. She was found dead by her neighbours the next morning. In a suicide note found in her room, she stated she was ending her life seven days before the exam as she was not prepared.
She had done her PG in Ophthalmology at the South Central Railways Hospital between 2009 and 2012. 'In Dec last, she failed in one of her final exams. In July this year, she returned to prepare for the exams again,' the inspector said.
