Cabinet clears way for Telangana state NEW DELHI: The Central Cabinet Thursday cleared a draft bill for creation of the Telangana state having 10 districts, said union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.
"The bill has been passed by the cabinet and has been sent to the president for his assent," Shinde told reporters after coming out of the cabinet meet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"The government will make special efforts to ensure equitable dignity and opportunity for the people of the state. Special care will be taken by the government to set up economic and social stability," he added.
'We want the bill to be tabled in winter session of Parliament,' Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told the media after the Cabinet meeting.
The common capital for both Telangana and the residual State will be Hyderabad for a period not exceeding 10 years, Mr. Shinde said. Special status will be accorded to both States under Article 371 D of for equitable opportunities, he added.
