DS flays Kiran for defying Sonia HYDERABAD: Former PCC chief D Srinivas has advised chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to realise that he is what he is because of the generosity of party chief Sonia Gandhi, whom he is targeting now.
Speaking to mediapersons here, the Congress leader said the tone and tenor of Kiran Reddy while questioning the decision of the CWC was not acceptable.
'When three states were created during the NDA rule, the chief ministers of the three states had agreed to it when the then prime minister AB Vajpayee had reasoned with them though they belonged to a different party.
They had resolutions passed in their respective assemblies and sent them to the Centre,' Srinivas recalled and advised Kiran Reddy to do likewise. The responsibility to do so is more on him because he belongs to the Congress, he said.
Srinivas said even before Kiran Reddy became the chief minister, the Centre had taken the decision to form Telangana state on December 9, 2009. If he is really opposed to Telangana state, he should have refused to take up chief minister's post, he said.
The former PCC chief said Kiran Reddy should have resigned when the core committee met to take the decision on Telangana. Now, he is speaking in a manner which insults the sacrifices made by the youths of Telangana for a separate state.
He found fault with Union minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao's demand for according UT status to Hyderabad and wanted to know how Seemandhra would benefit from this.
Referring to the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao's attitude towards the Congress, he said the pink party leader had immense respect for Sonia Gandhi, but for some reasons there is a distance between him and the Congress. He felt both Congress and TRS should come together.
