Naidu dares KCR for public debate

HYDERABAD: Accepting the offer of TRS chief K Chandrasekar Rao to meet him in a public debate on state development, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu said 'State development or personal issues, let KCR decide the time and place and I will be there.'

Speaking to reporters at his residence here on Wednesday, Chandrababu said, 'I have all the facts and will speak out when the time comes. It is KCR who is afraid of debate as he has done nothing for the state, but played with the lives of the people of the region. If he wants to debate about my personal issues, I am ready for that too. I have nothing to hide,' he said.

'KCR talks of Telangana. What was he doing when former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy was selling Telangana lands? Why did he not raised his voice then? When former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao, who belongs to Telangana region, was being humiliated and Congress president Sonia Gandhi did not allow his memorial in Delhi, he did not raise his voice,' he said.

By contrast, the TDP did not field a candidate when PV contested from Nandayal as we were happy that a Telugu person has become the prime minister of the country, he said.

He said KCR should not forget that it was TDP which has brought GO No 610 and set up Girgilani committee for the welfare of the people of Telangana. 'KCR himself had praise the welfare works being done by the TDP government on many occasions and even in the Assembly.

He should also not forget that it was TDP which has given him political life. Today, just for political and selfish gain, he is criticising the party,' he alleged.

'I believe in principles and cannot stoop to KCR's level. He talks about my betraying NTR. We revolted in a peculiar situation and at that time, KCR too stood by me,' he said. Accusing the Centre of violating all the rules and convention of state bifurcation, Naidu said the Centre has overruled all the suggestions and recommendations of various committees.

'The Union Cabinet even violated the procedures followed for tabling the Cabinet note. The Union home ministry did not conduct inter-ministerial consultations before submitting the Cabinet note for approval under Rule 12.

Similarly, as per Rule 9, any note leading to a proposal for legislation must be invariably vetted by the ministry of law and justice, but this was not done.

As per rules, the draft note must be circulated to all the ministries and departments, whose business is likely to be impacted by the proposal and they should be given two to four weeks time to give their comments and opinions. However, his procedure was not followed. Likewise, many rules and procedures were over looked,' he alleged.
