FB post solves Techie's murder case
HYDERABAD: A man, who allegedly got his former brother-in-law, a software professional, murdered by hired killers and posted photographs of his body on a social networking site, was on Wednesday remanded in judicial custody.
Arun Kumar, along with his friends Mohammed Younus Pasha and Madhusudan, who were arrested by SR Nagar Police on charges of abducting and killing Chandrasekhar Goud, were produced before a local court which remanded them in 14 days' judicial custody, police said. Another accused Shiva is still absconding.
According to West Zone DCP V Satyanarayana Arun Kumar's sister was married to Chandrasekhar Goud in 2007 in Chennai. But she divorced him after seven months filing a harassment case with the Chennai police.
Chandrasekhar promised to return the dowry amount as well as her residential flat in Balanagar but did not keep up his promise. He also continuously abused Arun Kumar and his sister when they insisted on return of their property, the DCP said.
Vexed with this, Arun Kumar bore a grudge against Chandrashekar and decided to eliminate him. He hatched a plan with his friends and offered them `6 lakh, the DCP said.
As per their plan, on December 4, Arun Kumar's friends came to Chandrasekhar's house and pressed a handkerchief drenched with methanol on his nose while he was in deep sleep and he became unconscious.
They shifted him to a car and allegedly smothered him on the way to Vikarabad of neighbouring Ranga Reddy district, before they threw his body in the forest area on Kumar's instructions, the DCP said.
Later, they photographed his body and sent it to Kumar, who posted it on a social networking site and forwarded it to his sister and others saying it was a 'gift', the officer said.
Based on information that the photograph of a person's body was posted on a social networking website, the SR Nagar police investigated the matter and detected the crime, the DCP said.
Arun Kumar said that Chandrasekhar had continuously harassed his sister. He also told the police that he had no intention to kill Chandrasekhar and merely wanted to threaten him, though it was unfortunate that he died.
