Seemandhra Cong MLAs move resolution on United State HYDERABAD: When AICC state affairs incharge Digvijaya Singh landed in Hyderabad to ensure smoother discussion on the T-Bill in the present session of the Assembly, some of the Seemandhra Congress MLAs on Thursday decided to move a resolution in favour of Samaikyandhra in the House.
A delegation of Seemandhra Congress legislators, who are close aides of chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, headed by Sake Sailajanath, who is also the convener of Andhra Pradesh Congress MLAs' Forum, called on Speaker Nadendla Manohar at the latter's chambers in the Assembly premises and submitted a notice requesting him to permit to move a resolution in favour of keeping the state intact.
Former minister JC Diwakar Reddy, who recently demanded his party boss Sonia Gandhi to hand over the reins of the party to a capable leader in the wake of its humiliating drubbing in the recently-held Assembly polls in four states, party veteran Gade Venkata Reddy and MLA Malladi Vishnu were also part of the delegation.
Later, speaking to reporters, Gade Venkata Reddy said, 'Under the AP Assembly Rules 77 and 78, we want to move a resolution in the House asking the Centre not to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
Hence, we have submitted a notice to the Speaker in this regard. We also pleaded with the Speaker to allow detailed discussion on this resolution and ensure that voting is also conducted on the same.' The Congress veteran said the Centre was throwing all democratic norms and Constitutional practices to winds while dividing AP.
According to Reddy, classic example for this is that the Centre has not sought any resolution from the state Assembly in favour of division before it began the process of bifurcation.
'Normally, it is an established practice that the Centre should decide to divide a particular state only after the Assembly of the concerned state passed a resolution in favour of division. But, in case of AP, the Union government ignored this practice,' he alleged.
Recalling the earlier statement of Digvijaya Singh in which the AICC points man said both T-resolution and TBill would be sent to AP Assembly, Venkata Reddy wondered why Singh's promise on T-resolution was not kept.
Earlier, Diwakar Reddy also said they would put in all possible efforts to keep AP united.
