Telangana MLAs plan to expedite debate on T Bill HYDERABAD: With chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy not showing any signs of changing his stance on Centre's T-decision, his party lawmakers from Telangana have formulated a strategy to ensure that the T-Bill is taken up for discussion in the ongoing session of the Assembly so as to send it back to Delhi at the earliest.
The Telangana Congress legislators have also resolved to meet every MLA from their region, irrespective of their political affiliation, to seek his or her support for concluding the debate on the Bill in the Assembly ahead of time.
Telangana Congress leaders went into a huddle at the residence of government chief whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy here on Thursday evening and formulated an action plan to ensure that the Bill is sent back to the President at the earliest so as to be tabled in the ongoing winter session of the Parliament.
Apart from former PCC boss D Srinivas and deputy chief minister C Damodara Rajanarasimha, ministers such as K Jana Reddy, DK Aruna and B Saraiah took part in the meeting.
According to sources, during the meeting, the T-Congress leaders resolved to demand the chief minister and the Speaker on Friday to take up the T-Bill as top priority to discuss it in the Assembly.
Later, speaking to newsmen Venkata Ramana Reddy said as the T-Bill was aimed at eliciting opinions of MLAs, they would oppose any move to conduct voting on the same in the House.
Taking strong exception to the demand made by Seemandhra Congress leaders that Samaikyandhra resolution be moved in the House, Reddy questioned, 'How can they demand a resolution in favour of Samaikyandhra in the House as they had never agreed earlier to pass a resolution in favour of statehood to Telangana in the Assembly?'
The leaders also decided to hold meetings everyday henceforth to chalk out their strategy depending on the developments on the T-Bill.
