Ganta likely to switch over to YSRCP Visakhapatnam: After nearly making up his mind to join Telugu Desam Party along with his followers, mainly those elected on Praja Rajyam Party ticket, the Minister for Infrastructure and Investment Ganta, Srinivasa Rao, has now developed second thoughts.
Sources said that the change in his stance is due to the reported overtures to him from the YSR Congress Party. Anyone will grab such an opportunity, as there is a strong wind blowing in favour of YSRCP in Seemandhra.
The TDP, which appeared to be improving its lot in the recent past, has has fallen back as it is found wanting in spelling a clear stand against the separate statehood for Telangana. Also, locally the TDP is not as strong as it appears to be in the rest of Seemandhra.
The invitation from YSRCP comes as no surprise as Ganta has in a very short time become a powerful politician in the region, even more popular than the Pradesh Congress President Botcha Satyanarayana. Roping him in will prove advantageous to any political party.
Though he wants to keep options open for a while, there is now pressure on him to decide quickly, in the next few days. Sources say he may join the YSRCP shortly before or after his daughter's marriage slated for December 25 at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds.
That he will quit the Congress party for good is clear. Even the marriage invite does not mention him as a minister. Obviously, he is aware he may have to decide before that date.
This new turn will certainly upset TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu who has prepared himself to receive Ganta and his followers into the party fold. But the minister has now an alibi in the form of former minister Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu who is spitting fire against him, leveling all sorts of allegations.
