Byreddy bats for capital in Rayalaseema Kurnool: Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi Party (RPSP) would sweep the polls in 2014, in the four districts of Rayalaseema like the Aam Aadmi Party, said RPSP president Byreddy Rajasekhara Reddy.
Inaugurating the Rayalaseema Ranabheri programme near the statue of Sri Krishnadeva Raya in Kurnool town on Monday, Rajasekhara Reddy demanded that the new capital be located in Rayalaseema region. If that was not possible, a separate state of Rayalaseema be formed, he said.
After garlanding the statue of Sri Krishnadeva Raya and paying floral tributes, he addressed the huge gathering. He said that Andhra Pradesh state was formed by merging three important regions together and demanded to know how the Centre could divide it into only two parts.
Byreddy demanded the implementation of the Sree Bagh Pact according to which the surplus waters of Krishna river could be utilized by the people in the Rayalaseema region.
He said that the people of the Rayalaseema region suffered a lot in Andhra Pradesh and justice could be done to them only by creating a separate Rayalaseema state.
He alleged that some selfish political leaders having business interests in Hyderabad proposed the formation of Rayala-Telangana and to split the region. He said that it would not be possible for the Seemandhra region to stop the process of bifurcation under any circumstances now.
The RPSP chief said that the leaders in the Rayalaseema should wake up before it was too late and ensure that the capital city is situated in the region. Otherwise, it would go to the coastal areas.
In that case, the Congress will be totally wiped out in the Rayalaseema region in the 2014 elections, he warned.
