Teenager attempts self-abortion, dies Vijayawada: Tension prevailed here with the family members and relatives of a teenaged girl, who died under suspicious circumstances, protesting before Kothapet police station with her body.
They demanded that the police register a case of suspicious death and investigate the case. Police, sensing the mood of the crowd, registered a case and sent the body to the Government General Hospital for post-mortem. Boya Nandini (19) of Vidyadharapuram died allegedly after consuming pregnancy-termination capsules brought by her boyfriend.
The girl allegedly developed intimacy with Irusu Durga Rao, an auto driver, a few months ago. Their relations grew, after he promised to marry her. The intimacy resulted in her pregnancy.
After realizing it, Nandini approached her lover, who forced her to go for abortion. He had allegedly given the capsule which Nandini consumed, to terminate her five-month-old pregnancy.
Suddenly she fell sick and, when her parents were rushing her to the hospital, died on the way. Shocked, the parents rushed to the One Town Police Station and asked police to register a case. When they initially refused to register the complaint, they and family members protested leading to tension.
