Drunken Medicos create ruckus in public Kakinada: About 40 junior doctors of the government hospital here created unruly scenes by screaming and shouting while consuming liquor in public during a birthday party of a colleague on Monday night. Their despicable behaviour was brought to the notice of the media by some relatives of patients.
When the media sought to question the medicos, they retorted describing reporters as only `inter/degree pass, whereas we have completed MBBS'. They even questioned their very presence, wondering who permitted them to intrude. The errant junior doctors became subdued after police intervened.
Hospital superintendent Dr Penumala Venkat Buddha described the doctors' conduct as 'unpardonable'. He said normally the RMO's permission should be taken to hold a party. 'How can they treat the hospital as their home', Buddha said, venting his ire.
He said an inquiry committee, headed by the RMO, has been set up to look into the incident. The doctors who misbehaved have been identified.
Strong action would be taken against them, to ensure that such incidents don't recur. The medicos' misbehaviour has been taken to the notice of the Director of Medical Education.
This is not the first time that such incidents have occurred, as patients vouchsafe that there have been many such unpleasant episodes in the past.
