KCR's talk will cause more harm: Shabbir Ali Hyderabad, March 10 (INN): Deputy CLP leader in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused the State Government of using wrong statistics to present Telangana as a developed State.
Speaking on the Motion of Thanks on Governor's Address in the Legislative Council here no Tuesday, Shabbir Ali expressed doubts over the genuineness of the figures mentioned in the Governor's address with regard to GSDP Forecast for Telangana. The Governor has mentioned the GSDP growth forecast was likely to be 5.3% in the year 2014-15 as against the growth rate of 4.8% in 2013-14. He also referred to a recent statement made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wherein he claimed that Telangana was a rich State. He said such tall claims would cause damage to the interest of Telangana and create obstacles in getting Central funds and other aids.
Shabbir Ali said that the per capital income in seven out of 10 districts was below the national average of Rs 74,920. Similarly, 9 out of 10 districts of Telangana are covered under the Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF). He advised KCR to be cautious in using such statistics.
The Congress MLC pointed out that the Governor has indirectly disclosed that there was a decline in agriculture growth. Stating that the sowing in Telangana got reduced by almost 36%, he sought to know the reasons for the decline in agricultural growth. Besides adverse monsoon, he said erratic power supply and lack of financial assistance to farmers were the other reasons for the same. He also pulled up the government for remaining inert to suicides committed by nearly 700 farmers.
Shabbir Ali ridiculed the claims of State Government on welfare of SC, ST, BC and Minorities. Quoting figures, he said as on March 9, only 24.74% of the total allocated amounts were spent on welfare of these four groups.
The Congress leader strongly criticized the Governor's address for skipping the mention of 12% reservation for Muslims. Similarly, the words used to reiterate the promise of providing 12% reservation for Scheduled Tribes clearly indicate that the TRS Government is preparing ground to drop the proposal. He ridiculed the two Enquiry Committees set up by the government on March 3 to study the socio-economic conditions of Muslims and Tribals. He said both the Committees would have no legal sanctity and their recommendations would be of interest only for academic value and not for providing reservation.
'Government has already wasted nine months and by constituting these two committees it bought another six months of time to delay the implementation of promise of 12% reservation for Muslims and STs. The students of both the communities have lost one academic year and now due to the constitution of committee they will not get 12% quota in coming academic year and they will not get any reservation in the recruitments to be done by the Public Service Commission,' he said while demanding that the government issue an ordinance to implement the reservation without any further delay.
He also slammed the State Government for improper or lack of implementation of schemes like Kalyana Laxmi, Shaadi Mubarak, Aasra Pensions, Weaker Sections Housing, KG to PG free education and the flagship schemes.
Rejecting the Governor's address, Shabbir Ali said it lacked any direction and was aimed at dilution of schemes and promises announced by the TRS Government earlier.
