Telangana is the second wealthiest State: KCR Hyderabad, March 10 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday claimed that Telangana is the second wealthiest State in the country after Gujarat.
Replying to a discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governor's Address in the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister said that, as per the 14th Finance Commission, the GSDP growth forecast was likely to be 5.3% in the year 2014-15 as against the growth rate of 4.8% in 2013-14. Similarly, the per capita income of Telangana State was certainly more than the national average, he said.
The Chief Minister claimed that the Telangana was likely to get nearly Rs 6 lakh crore from the Centre in the next five years. This includes Rs 3.75 lakh crore in Non-Plan and Rs 2.25 lakh crore under Plan. Further, he said that nearly Rs 17,000 crore were expected under Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) which is in addition to the actual allocations of Rs 14,000 crore. He said that the replacement of Planning Commission with NITI Ayog would also boost the revenues of Telangana State.
KCR said that the State Government was expecting nearly Rs 30,000 through the sale of government lands. He assured that the State Government would implement all the promises that it made with the people. Condemning the criticism by opposition parties, he said that the implementation of some promises like KG to PG free education needs more time. He said lakhs of applications have been received for regularisation of dwellings on 125 sq yards of government land. He said all the dwellings would be regularised after the MLC elections.
The Chief Minister also assured that the government would follow the model of Tamil Nadu to provide 12% reservation to Muslims and Tribals. Till then, he assured that the government would continue with 4% reservation for Muslims in jobs and education. He also promised to take steps for the promotion of Urdu language. He claimed that the Urdu language was born in Hyderabad, patronised in Delhi and prospered in Lucknow. Therefore, he said that the language would be developed in the State.
