Telangana Budget lacks clarity: BJP Hyderabad, March 11 (INN): BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman has stated that the Telangana's budget for 2015-16 presented by Finance Minister Eatala Rajender on Wednesday lacked clarity on both revenues and expenditure.
Speaking to media persons at Assembly's media point, Lakshman said that the government did not spent even 40% of the last year's budget. Ideally, he said that the Finance Minister should have carried forward those unspent amounts in this year's budget to make it comprehensive. However, he said that the government presented a budget Rs 115,689 crore budget without even mentioning anything on the unspent amounts. He also disputed the claims that Telangana was the second wealthiest State after Gujarat. He said that the Finance Minister should have elaborated the same in his speech.
Lakshman said that while the government completely skipped the mention of farmers who committed suicide, the number of families of Telangana martyrs eligible for compensation has been reduced. He said that the budget is also non-committal on the promise of KG to PG free education.
